The 2010 Biennial of the Americas is an international event that celebrates the culture, ideas and people of the Western Hemisphere, hosted by the City of Denver.

BiographyDr. Eugenio Scannavino Netto, an award winning physician and social innovator, is the founder of Projeto Saúde e Alegria (Health and Happiness Project) since 1987, which today works with more than 150 communities in the Rio Tapajós Basin, in the Brazilian Amazon. These support programs serve more than 30,000 persons through the participatory and integrated processes of Comprehensive and Sustained Community Development, managed by the populations themselves. An Ashoka Fellow and member of the Avina Foundation, Dr. Netto also works as a consultant in participatory social diagnostics and planning in communities in Brazil, Venezuela, India and the Philippines and is the founder of GTA (Amazon Working Group), which unites 650 organizations of the traditional peoples of the Amazon region. He is also the curator and director of the exhibition Amazônia Brazil held in São Paulo in 2002 (with 250,000 visitors), in Rio de Janeiro in 2003 (with 30,000 visitors), Paris in 2005 (with 150,000 visitors).
