The Denver Art Museum will host a group of Culture Club members for a private tour of the exhbition Have a Seat: Mexican Chair Design Today, an interactive exhibition featuring three historical artworks, 17 contemporary seats designed by 22 Mexican artists, and a site-specific art installation.

The Biennial Culture Club is our brand new community dedicated to bringing together individuals from around Colorado who are passionate about the Biennial mission and eager to engage throughout the year. We will offer year-round programming that celebrates and builds on our connection to the Americas, and the rich Colorado-Americas culture that exists in our own backyard. At the end of this year, we will announce our 2024 programming and dates!

Our first official event is the Culture Club Holiday Brunch on Sunday, December 10th at Las Chivas Colombian Restaurant. Brunch starts at 10:30am and RSVPs are requested by December 6th.

The Culture Club is also a way for individuals with means to support the activation of up-and-coming artists and community members to engage with the Biennial and attend our Culture Summits, like our upcoming trip to Mexico City for Art Week in February! You can join the Culture Club at any of three levels that are designed to keep membership accessible while still encouraging those who are able to uplift young voices.

Picnic in the Plaza & Curatorial Tour

Join the Biennial team alongside Black Cube's Executive Director & Chief Curator Cortney L. Stell to close out the summer with a curatorial tour followed by a picnic in the plaza with refreshments & music. 

Hear from artists Julia Jamrozik and Coryn Kempster as they discuss their social infrastructure-based collaborative practice. The artists will be joined in conversation by Black Cube Executive Director + Chief Curator Cortney Lane Stell.

Learn more about the role of art in cities and downtown revitalization with this panel moderated by Cortney L. Stell featuring the artists and leading industry executives with panoramic views of the installation at Continuum Partners office.

After the reception, take your seat for the highly anticipated screening of Juan of the Dead, a Cuban horror-comedy that follows a group of friends who must fend off a zombie apocalypse in Havana with the help of their resident slacker, Juan. This film kicks off a summer of Cinema Azteca films curated by and presented in partnership with the Biennial of the Americas.

Cinema Azteca is an exciting film series that provides moviegoers with a diverse and dynamic perspective on the film traditions of Mexico and Latin America. Cinema Azteca is presented weekly on Tuesday nights at the Holiday Theater.

Join the Scrivner Institute of Public Policy, the Center on American Politics, The Denver Gazette and Colorado Politics for a mayoral debate at the University of Denver, in partnership with Biennial of the Americas. We invite the DU and broader Denver communities to hear from the final mayoral candidates, Kelly Brough and Mike Johnston.

The debate will be moderated by Luige del Puerto, Editor at The Denver Gazette & Colorado Politics, and Dr. Seth Masket, Director of the Center on American Politics. Voters can also leave a question for moderators after registering.

Bomba Estéreo and Gabito Ballesteros will perform at the Cities Summit of the Americas closing concert! Join the Biennial of the Americas on April 30, 2023 at Mission Ballroom to wrap up an amazing week of programming and activities. Bomba Estéreo was born in Bogotá, Colombia and is known for its electro tropical and psychedelic cumbia music and Gabito Ballesteros from Sonora, México is known for his modern corridos.
